5) The Great State Fair of Texas

Fried goodies, Fletcher’s Corn Dogs, Ice cold lemonade…just a few reasons to head to Big D before the State Fair ends on October 20th. This is one of the top events in the state each year worth the trek down I-30, or whichever way you get there from Cowtown. Visit Big Tex, make a mess of yourself with the famous Fletcher’s Corn Dogs or your favorite fried treat, and wash it down with ice cold fresh lemonade or an ice cold beer. Then check out the Auto Building, the Petting Zoo, The Midway….and then go back for another Fletcher’s Corn Dog.

6) Fall Plant Sale & Mariposa Market at Fort Worth Botanic Garden

Fort Worth Botanic Gardens has combined two of their most popular events to bring you two days of fun for the whole family. Honor the Hispanic heritage at our second annual Mariposa Market, with performances by Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth, Inc., and while you are here pick up some fall color for your flower beds at the Fall Plant Sale.

7) Jack Ingram at Billy Bob’s Texas

There are many poster children for Texas Country, and Jack Ingram is at the top of that list. Jack will feature songs from his new album Midnight Motel. Midnight Motel is Jack’s 8th studio album, and his first since his 2009 smash Big Dreams & High Hopes, Midnight Motel features spare, stripped-down instrumental arrangements that highlight the intimacy and urgency of such new originals as “I’m Drinking Through It,” “Nothing to Fix,” “Can’t Get Any Better Than This,” and “All Over Again.” The album’s organic late-night vibe is perfectly suited to the material, and brings out the emotional edge in Ingram’s deeply felt vocals. It’s new music and the fun energy of Jack Ingram on the Billy Bob’s Stage. Don’t miss it!

8) Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers

This rivalry goes back over 50 years to before the NFC Championship Ice Bowl game. The rivalry is no less intense as both teams are fighting to win their respective divisions to meet in the playoffs again at the end of this season. Dak and Elliott and the Cowboys D are prepared to Defend Our House against this NFC powerhouse.
How Bout Them Cowboys!

Disclaimer: What’s Up Fort Worth features many events in other cities (including Dallas) when our staff feels that the event has DFW market-wide interest and that fans in Fort Worth and Tarrant County will make the trek to Dallas for the event.
