GO EAST…YOU’LL BE GLAD YOU DID!
Now in its 14th year, this seasonal favorite is back for yet another year of theatrical wonderment.  Don’t miss Langston Hughes’ foot-stomping, toe tapping, finger-snapping holiday favorite and experience the Nativity story through gospel music. Directed by Jiles King.

Through December 17

Santa Claus, A New Musical at Casa Manana Children’s Theatre

Back by popular demand, your family will love making this your holiday tradition. When Santa announces that he’s retiring after a thousand years, the search is on for someone to fill his boots. Santa Claus – A New Musical will put the whole family in the holiday spirit!

Through December 24

Motown Christmas at Jubilee Theatre

Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with this Jubilee Theatre Christmas debut. This exciting family-fun musical is filled with your Christmas favorites from Motown, including Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, and The Jackson 5 … all performed in that unmistakable Jubilee Theatre style. Of all the holiday entertainment choices this year, A Motown Christmas is a sure bet to get you into the Christmas Spirit!

Through December 24

An Act of God at Stage West Theatre
Direct from the pearly gates, and flanked by His ever-faithful and devoted archangels, the Almighty Himself is back to set the record straight and answer the deepest questions plaguing humanity since Creation. In this hilarious, no holds barred, irreverent, and critically acclaimed new play, God takes the stage to deliver a new and improved set of Commandments that are sure to have audiences rolling in their seats with side-splitting glee while providing angel-food for thought.

Through December 31

Plaid Tidings at Theatre Arlington
Filled with Christmas standards that have all been "Plaid-erized," our boys are back to do their Christmas Special. At first, Francis, Jinx, Smudge and Sparky aren't sure why they've returned to Earth for another posthumous performance, but a phone call from the heavenly Rosemary Clooney lets them know that they're needed to put a little harmony into a discordant world. Sprinkled among the Christmas offerings are audience favorites, like their riotous three-minute-and-eleven second version of The Ed Sullivan Show – this time, featuring the Rockettes, the Chipmunks and The Vienna Boys Choir, as well as a Plaid Caribbean Christmas that puts the "Day-O" in Excelsis!

Through December 17

A Tuna Christmas at Runway Theatre in Grapevine

In this hilarious sequel to Greater Tuna, it's Christmas in the third smallest town in Texas. The plot revolves around the annual yuletide yard display contest, won 14 times in a row by Vera Carp. A mysterious "Christmas Phantom" known for vandalizing the yard displays has the contestants on edge. Stanley Bumiller's attempts to end his probation, Bertha Bumiller's struggle to hold her family together during the holidays, and Joe Bob Lipsey's production of A Christmas Carol jeopardized by unpaid electric bills add to the hilarity. Rated PG-13.

Through December 17

Annie at Artisan Theatre in Hurst

Annie is a Broadway musical based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the book by Thomas Meehan. With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC.

Through December 23

A Doublewide, Texas Christmas at Theatre Off the Square (Weatherford)
WORLD PREMIERE

Link: In this uproarious, laugh-a-minute comedy, the citizens of the newest – and tiniest – town in Texas, are facing a blue Christmas when they realize their trailer park community of Doublewide has been double-crossed by the County. Holiday hilarity ensues as they deploy one hare-brained scheme after another in misguided attempts to preserve their independence and eccentric way of life. By the time this high-octane lunacy climaxes in a live Christmas Eve television presentation that goes spectacularly wrong, you’ll be doubled over with laughter and thrilled you’ve spent your Yuletide in Doublewide.

Through December 17

Dismay in a Manger at Texas Star Dinner Theatre (Grapevine)

It’s Christmas Day, 1910, in French Guiana and the temperature has graciously dropped to 104°. Three convicts —two murderers and a swindler— are employed as roofers by a family whose roof is in desperate need of maintenance. On the way from France is an evil-minded cousin, to oust the father of the family from his business, and his cold-blooded nephew, who is jilting the father's daughter for an heiress. The convicts, with warm hearts and passionate believers in true justice, take the visitors on. Will they prevail? Find out in this comedy classic!

Casanova: The Seduction of Europe at Kimbell Art Museum

Casanova: The Seduction of Europe explores the 18th century across Europe through the eyes of one of its most colorful characters, Giacomo Casanova (1725--1798). Renowned in modern times for his amorous pursuits, Casanova lived not only in Italy, but in France and England, and his travels took him to the Ottoman Empire and to meet Catherine the Great in Saint Petersburg. Bringing together paintings, sculpture, works on paper, furnishings, porcelains, silver and period costume, Casanova will bring this world to life. Following its display in Fort Worth, the exhibition will be on view at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This exhibition is organized by the Kimbell Art Museum, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Nature/Culture at Amon Carter Museum of American Art

We often think of nature as that which stands beyond humanity and culture as that which reflects people’s achievements. But rarely is the matter so simple. This exhibition explores different facets of the dichotomy. Besides reflecting on how nature counterpoints and enlivens our built environment, the show recognizes the more problematic use of the term, and its cousin “natural,” when applied to snapshots, portraits, and Native American cultures.
Large print labels are available for use in the exhibition.

A virtuoso, gifted with dazzling skills and technique, Dali was a painter, designer, sculptor, writer and set designer as well as a master engraver who could produce equally outstanding work in dry point, etching, woodcut or lithography. The exhibition’s pieces de resistance are the illustrations of Dante’s The Divine Comedy, for which each of the lithographs presented required as many as 35 colors. There are a total of 100 pieces included in this exhibition.
